||Who was Jesus?
||Mark Merlino - Home page
|"While he was in Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, many began to believe in his name when they saw
the signs he was doing. But Jesus would not trust himself to them because he knew them all, and did not
need anyone to testify about human nature. He himself understood it well."
"So they said to him, 'Where is your father?' Jesus replied, 'You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would
know my Father also.' He spoke these words while teaching in the treasury in the temple area."
"So they said to him, 'Who are you?' Jesus said to them, 'What I told you from the beginning. I have much to say about you in
condemnation. But the one who sent me is true, and what I heard from him I tell the world.' They did not realize that Jesus was
speaking to them of the Father. So Jesus said to them, 'When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM, and that
I do nothing on my own, but I say only what the Father taught me. The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone,
because I always do what is pleasing to him.'"
"'How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.' Jesus answered them, "I told you and
you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name testify to me. But you do not believe, because you are not among my
sheep. My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one
can take them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can take them out of the
Father's hand. The Father and I are one.'"
