| Monreale is without a doubt the finest church in Sicily. The duomo of Monreale was built by the Norman King William II in the 12th century and under his guidance, the entire interior of the church is covered in golden mosaics. The mosaics however were not just simple decoration, they visually relate the stories of the Old and New Testament and of church history. |
