famous for its Byzantine - Greek Catholic Abbey, Abbazia di San Nilo, which was founded by Saint Nilus in the
year 1004 AD. In this Abbey, monks continue to celebrate mass according to the Greek rite, although the
community is in communion with the Catholic Church. There are many beautiful mosaics and icons found here.
