Sicily - Sicilia
Mark Merlino - Home page
In Northeastern Sicily, there is a beautiful small town, atop of a mountain called Taormina.
This town, originally founded by Ancient Greeks and further embellished by the Romans,
is noted for its fine views, beautiful gardens, Graeco-roman theatre and relaxing atmosphere.
This tower at Pozzallo guards the
beaches of Southern Sicily, the
site of many invasions in history,
including the Allied invasion
during World War II.
This is a crater found on the side
of Mount Etna, Sicily's very active
volcano, known to have at least
minor eruptions every few years.
Catania, Sicily's main city in the East,
has been destroyed by Mount Etna,
which towers above it.
